McLaren’s first podium of the 2024 season came at the Australian Grand Prix. It also happened to be the first podium for the team at that track in 10 years. But another first regarding McLaren is the AFX 2024 MCL38 joining the ever-growing fleet of AFX Formula 1 cars.
The 2024 season ended in victory for McLaren with their first Constructors' Championship victory since 1998. The impressive MCL38, designed by former Red Bull engineer Rob Marshall, captured a total of 21 podiums and 6 Grand Prix wins.
Oscar Piastri took the helm of the #81 car and his race-winning potential was made crystal clear with his first Grand Prix victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Piastri first saw racing success in the karting scene as an Australian native. But, like those before him including Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo, his love of racing took him to Europe to capture the hearts and minds of the sport’s top agents. And Piastri did just that at merely 15 years of age when he took two podiums on his first attempts at single seat competitions. He soon soared through the racing ranks and in 2023 teamed up with McLaren. Now, after a stellar two years in Formula 1, Piastri has proven he’s no flash in the pan.
The AFX McLaren MCL38 represents - to one degree or another, virtually all the bells and whistles the F1 team used to achieve their many victories. That means the body was painstakingly designed over months to achieve ultimate realism in both dimension and cosmetic design. With F1 it’s all about aerodynamics, which is why AFX implemented the many small but pivotal adjustments made specifically by the championship team. Some of those changes included a reworked sidepod with a newly exposed upper side impact bar. Another was a relocated radiator area that moved to the centerline near the cooling louvres for maximum downforce. The most important adjustment was the front suspension, getting the rearward upper wishbone mounted lower on the nose cone.
All these details and more result in yet another stunning addition to an already sizable collection of modern day AFX Formula 1 race cars. Get yours today and get in the race!

We wanted wheel to wheel racing, lap after lap, the feel of driving a real car. But we couldn’t do it by just changing the chassis. We had to create a whole new system…
