The "Screaming Chicken" was a prominent hood decal featured on the Pontiac Trans Am - first introduced in 1973 - depicting a fiery phoenix, became synonymous with the Trans Am's performance and style during the 1970s and 1980s, even making an appearance in the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit, elevating the Trans Am to a cultural icon. What began as a simple sketch on Bill Porter’s cocktail napkin became  an enduring symbol of automotive rebellion and power, and a reminder of the car's raw power and motorsport pedigree.

The Firebird was powered by a 455 cubic inch V8 engine. The reported 310 hp was widely understood to be a made up number to appease safety regulations when in fact it was certainly much higher. Also featured are Pontiac’s iconic Honeycomb wheels, designed to provide a distinctive, performance-oriented look deserving of the Firebird. These cast-aluminum wheels became a hallmark of the Trans Am. The wheels, along with its distinctive wide body and aggressive stance, made it a standout both on and off the track.
