Mega-G+ 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 HO Slot Car
Only 1,377 of the 1966 GT350s were ever built. AFX is bringing them to you in a special GT350 Series, in many of their color variations - like this striking Sapphire Blue with White Stripes, a combination seen on only 18.8% of the total cars built.
To understand the significance of the 1966 GT350, you first have to know its predecessor, the ’65. Famously driven by Mark Donohue, the 1965 GT350R helped launch one of the most celebrated racing careers of the era and cemented Shelby’s place in performance history. That success put the spotlight on the GT350 name and made the transition into the 1966 model year all the more important.
While mechanical changes - such as the dash tach, Cobra dress-up parts, and performance upgrades - distinguished the ’66 from the original ’65, it was the expansion of exterior colors and the nuanced use of racing stripes that most visibly defined the ’66 GT350. Finished here in Sapphire Blue with White Stripes, this example captures the bold styling that made the car instantly recognizable on the street and highly sought-after by collectors today.
Top racing stripes were optional, not standard equipment, so it is entirely correct to see original cars either with or without stripes. We opted for stripes - and paired with the vivid Sapphire Blue finish and chrome Cragar wheels, the result is a car with unmistakable presence and period-correct appeal.
Become a part of history and drive in style with the AFX 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 in Sapphire Blue with White Stripes.

Mega G+ CHASSIS
This new Mega G+ chassis doesn’t just go faster or handle better than the competition. And it doesn’t just have the ultra-low, narrow dimensions of the original Mega G to continue the reign of the most realistic HO cars on earth. It’s smoother, more consistent, and more intuitive than any car we’ve ever built.
We wanted wheel to wheel racing, lap after lap, the feel of driving a real car. But we couldn’t do it by just changing the chassis. We had to create a whole new system…
