Mega-G+ McLaren F1 MCL38 #4 Senna Monaco 2024 HO Slot Car

On May 1st, 1994, at the San Marino Grand Prix when mechanical failure cost pack leader and racing legend Ayrton Senna his life. At the Monaco 2024 Grand Prix, 30 years after F1’s tragic loss, McLaren paid tribute to its greatest racer with a unique livery sported on Lando Norris’ McLaren #4 2024 MCL38. 

This commemorative design joins the ever-growing fleet of AFX Formula 1 cars, honoring the legacy of the sport. 

The 2024 season ended in victory for McLaren with their first Constructors’ Championship victory since 1998. The impressive MCL38 - designed by former Red Bull engineer Rob Marshall - it’s impressive Mercedes-AMG F1 M15 E Performance 1.6-liter V6 turbocharged engine, captured a total of 21 podiums and 6 Grand Prix wins. 

Lando Norris, the team’s lead driver, piloted the #4 car. Born in Bristol to a Belgian mother and English father, Norris began competitive kart racing in Glastonbury at barely seven years of age. Now, with several F1 seasons under his belt, he spent 2024 securing multiple podiums and Grand Prix wins. The seasoned driver’s consistency and prowess is officially undeniable. 

The AFX McLaren MCL38 represents – to one degree or another, virtually all the bells and whistles the F1 team used to achieve their many victories. That means the body was painstakingly designed over months to achieve ultimate realism in both dimension and cosmetic design. With F1 it’s all about aerodynamics, which is why AFX implemented the many small but pivotal adjustments made specifically by the championship team. Some of those changes included a reworked sidepod with a newly exposed upper side impact bar. Another was a relocated radiator area that moved to the centerline near the cooling louvres for maximum downforce. The most important adjustment was the front suspension, getting the rearward upper wishbone mounted lower on the nose cone.
