Race: Crystal Palace 1971
Driver: David Brodie
Brodie’s Ford Escort MkI was the ultimate modified sports car, called ‘Run Baby Run’. Powered by a specially modified 2.1 litre BDA engine, the car was rumoured to have won over 200 races between 1969 and 1972. This car set the fastest lap time (57.6 seconds) at Crystal Palace in 1971, a time that has never been beaten in the special saloons series (over 1300cc).
