The first generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from April 1964 until 1973. The debut of the Mustang created a new class of motorcar known as the pony car; a low-cost, small, but highly styled, with a flamboyant or performance adapted look. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short back, proved very favourable and inspired many imitations.
