The condition of an item is relative to the value of that item. This would indicate that though we may place a value of $20.00 on a new packaged car, a lesser value would be placed on a car that has been used. For this reason there have been many individuals that have come up with scales pertaining to condition. We will be using a scale that more accurately depicts real life. When someone indicates C10 MINT LOOSE NEVER RUN (a common auction ploy), they are usually inaccurate for the sole purpose of making a sale. Ask yourself, is a car worth more if it is in the package never removed, or loose mint never run. If you check out some of the auction sites and follow the sale of loose versus packaged cars you will understand this very clearly. But if you have every intention of removing a car from the package to place it in your display, it would be highly recommended that you buy a loose mint one and leave the packaged car for those that want them. Here is a table that we have put together to attempt to place value on a particular car. The condition represents a percentage of the value portrayed. In this way if a car is worth $100 for condition 10 then that same car will be worth $50 for condition 5. You can use the condition indicator as a percentage in calculating actual worth. Where condition 10 = 100% of the value and condition 5 = 50% of the value. (10) Mint in Package never removed (strapped if applicable) (09) Mint loose never on the track (08) Has seen minor track time on chassis no noticeable marks on body (07) Has seen minor track time shows minor wear on body (06) Chrome wear, bumper wear, scratches on body (05) Nicks, chips, worn body (04) Cut wheel wells or somewhat modified but still nice (03) Badly cut wheel wells, broken areas on body (02) Could still be a car but likely good for parts (01) Still think it’s a car but can’t exactly determine what it is Remember this is only a guide. What one person considers a condition 08 might be another’s condition 06. So be careful and check the item you are attempting to purchase carefully. |
